Father’s Day: “Honoring our father”

However, one of the things that as an obedient child of God, there is no specific day to honor dad, but it is something that should be done continually. God’s word says in Ephesians 6:2 “‘Honor thy father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise”.

There is nothing better than receiving something from God when we keep His word, but what better way to receive eternal life than by honoring and respecting our parents every day of our lives. However, on this occasion of this day we urge you to take your cell phone, your car, your time or anything else and put it aside to take your dad to eat or chat with him in a very special place.

My Father, My Hero

Incredibly, if you analyze your life, surely as a child you observed your father as the hero of your childhood but at some point because of some situation he stopped being so. Perhaps growing up brings changes in our lives, but the beautiful thing is that we never stop being children and this condition leads us to have our father’s love.

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor thy father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise; Ephesians 6:1-2.

You know, maybe we don’t think as much of our father as we do of our mother, but even though we dedicate a specific day of the year to him, he’s there for you all year long, anytime. You may not have the best dad, or maybe he abandoned you as a child and is now interested in you. If that happens, it’s because a father’s love for his child never ceases.

Don’t wait for a bad time to tell him the things that you still can today, don’t wait for a time to honor him. One piece of advice we can give you is, if you have a chance to show your dad your love for him, do it before it’s too late.

Why wait a critical time to honor our parents?

Today it has been seen that children move away from their parents and only approach them when it is Father’s Day or their birthday. However, when our parents die, a feeling of having said things to them or expressing your love for them begins.

That’s why, at this moment, we ask you what value there is in getting away from your dad if on the day he dies you will wish you had spent time with him, which is why you should not waste time looking for your father and telling him: “Dad, I love you”.

Don’t get carried away with the feeling that your dad has been strong to you or that you simply carry a grudge against him. Heal and remove that from your heart and learn to value every moment that you have your dad by your side.

“And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse”; Malachi 4:6.

Remember that: “Behind a good son, there are always great fathers which God has used for you”.

Let us honor our parents while they are still alive. Go to them and tell them how important they are to you, how much you love them, and how great they have been to you.
