Something essential in the life of a Christian is faith and trust in Christ. An example of this is not indicated by the word in Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him. For he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:32 says; “And what shall I say more? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and of Barak and of Samson and of Jephthah, of David also and Samuel and of the prophets.”
ABRAHAM AND JOSEPH: They were men like you and me
Also in the Word of God we find many examples of men and women who did not lose their confidence in spite of adversities. Such is the case of Abraham and Joseph.
These were not gifted people, they were men and women like you and me; who were not without passions and weaknesses, but who had a great conviction that the God they had believed in was always by their side.
We can think that these people lived better times, and of course they always had the victory and did great things; but the reality is that their life was not always easy, they did not only do great and heroic things.
Hebrews 11:36-40 says; “And others endured the trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea moreover, of bonds and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented (of whom the world was not worthy), they wandered in deserts and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise, God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.” And all these, though they had obtained a good testimony through faith, yet they did not receive the promise; God providing something better for us, that they might not be made perfect apart from us.
However, they NEVER GIVEN UP, they DID NOT LOSE THE TRUST. The Lord was at your side telling you not to give up, not to give up, not to lose your confidence-you are only strangers and pilgrims on this earth because your citizenship is in Heaven.
The righteous shall live by faith!
Perhaps we have many faults, but if we believe in Christ with all our heart and have faith and trust, we will overcome every obstacle, because believing and trusting gives us hope and encouragement to keep on fighting without fainting and until the end, despite any adversity.
